The Dreamtime is a story of a timeless continent, rich in creative spirits. Today it lives on in the daily life of the Aboriginal people. As Australia's first inhabitants they are thought to have arrived here by boat from South East Asia during the ice age, around 50, 000 years ago. When Europeans first discovered the land, an estimated one million Aboriginal people lived throughout the continent. There were up to 300 clans who spoke over 250 different languages. Each of these clans had made developed a spiritual connection with a certain piece of land. Video courtesy of Tourism Australia
